And in despair I bowed my head:
"There is no peace on earth," I said,
"For hate is strong and mocks the song
Of peace on earth, good will to men."
Then pealed the bells more loud and deep:
"God is not dead, nor doth he sleep;
The wrong shall fail, the right prevail,
With peace on earth, good will to men."

I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day
- Henry Wadsworth Longfellow (1807-1882), 1867)
While practicing for the Christmas program at church,
these lyrics rang true in light of Friday's news.
Such a heartbreaking day in America
when a school shooting took so many lives,
especially the 20 little children.
Somebody said "evil visited that town."
How true.
Lord, please have mercy on our country!
But despite the evil -
God is not dead.
He doesn't sleep!
The wrong will fail and right shall prevail!
Jesus is going to win in the end!

Amen and Amen!
