hope

Why art thou cast down, O my soul?
and why art thou disquieted within me?
hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him,
who is the health of my countenance, and my God.
Psalms 42:11

last saturday

national ice cream month

July is national ice cream month.
I think this is the first year I am aware of the fact.
Two of my favorite "ice cream" treats that I indulged in during July....

a purple cow (i love 'em!)

and an orange julius...

It was 100+++++ degrees in Columbia,
so I took advantage of a 32 oz giant of a treat
that I rarely have a chance to buy.
It definitely helped counteract the heat wave!
(no wonder that these hot summer months
have the highest ice cream sales/consumption)

make room

I loved this cute onesie Andrea gave Chloe -

Emma's room is now the "girls' room."
Spray paint can work wonders! :)
Now....waiting on the call that Chloe is on the way!

7.28.2011

time for watermelon!

Local watermelons that are ripe enough to crack open...ummm!

I love those "heart" pieces from the middle...

a watermelon cut at R&A's one day -
the kiddos "dove" in...

Makes me laugh...

Zac ate his piece with a little less gusto. :)

Eating watermelon is a favorite summer memory!

treating myself

The cut flowers draw my attention
when I walk towards the produce at Harris Teeter.

I gave in one July Saturday -
a treat for myself.

I think I might just try to find some
"life-like" stems from Hobby Lobby though...

the tree cutting

On friday (july 8th),
I had a project to finish.
(wedding photo edits)

So with my mind on what I had to do,
I didn't pay too much attention to the truck I met
right before my house that had pine limbs piled high on a trailer...

But it hit me when I saw this in my yard...

That trailer came from my yard...they took the tree down!!!
I had no idea I would come home to this -
so my weekend to-do list kind of changed.

Check out these logs...

We found out the tree had started to rot -
yipes on the damage (and insurance claims) if it would have fallen.

Friday evening agenda - clean up the part in the neighbor's yard/ditch.

Dirty work...a trailer full.

Goal accomplished - with a little help from the neighbors two houses down.
So thoughtful!!!

Saturday...

Time to start again the next day - putting quite a bit on a second trailer.
So very hot - and physical, hard work that I am not used to.

Looking better...at this point, help arrived.
(whew! they made my day - so thankful!)

I did use clippers while I cleaned up by myself.

Lots of trips to the trailers...

A chain saw and more hands made the clean-up process go faster.

Emma helped some, but the scooter was a distraction.

After three trailer loads,
and another load at the end with
the last few piles raked up...
the yard is clean again.

Deep impressions left from the tree falling; hopefully it will recover soon.

What a job!
Talk about aches and pains later - but a happy heart too.
It is much safer to exit my driveway now!
And another project is partially finished...
the stump and driveway needs attention now that the tree is gone.
Home ownership changes expense habits for sure!

7.25.2011

rain! =)

I am super excited whenever it rains!

These scorching hot summer days leave wilting flowers
and the hose pipe is left untouched too many times.

Cooler temperatures with the rain is a blessing!
The Progress Energy bill notification is one of those
"oh no, I don't want to see, might as well check" kind of emails.

Thankful for these raindrops!

celebrating july bdays

With birthdays three days apart,
we normally combine the celebrations.
Andrea's cake is perfect for them -
a fish for Daddy
and a flower for Allison.

Ross planned the menu - yummy food!

Cake made by Ross' mama - chocolate goodness going on!

Present time...

And Ross gets my camera and takes photos...

(I had to include this one because of the nerf gun
and the memory of Hunter shooting Andrea in the head/chest.)

Gotta love all the expressions...

Allison and Chloe relaxed...near the corner full of baby stuff.
Our next family birthday might include the new addition?

7.23.2011

her 25th

can't believe how fast the digits are adding up.
it seems like we just celebrated 18 or 21.

today is Randa's 25th.

my pretty cousin.
one of my most favorite girls ever,
a special friend!

happiest of birthdays to you!
may it be your best year yet.
love much!

7.22.2011

celebrating the 4th

i love having holidays off now. =)

On the 4th -
I actually worked on some photo editing,
but no getting up real early.
Went for some shopping in Florence.
Krispy Kreme doughnuts too - yum!

Stopped by a birthday party.

Went to watch fireworks in a high school stadium.
Some rain drops so I didn't carry my good camera.
Used the old camera.

Serious cheesing on my part.
Fireworks shots to remember.

Coolest one - an upside down smiley face - not captured.

The best part - spending time together.
So thankful for faith, family, and freedom!
