shutterfly valentine's special

Shutterfly has free shipping if you have a $25 order (placed by 2/1.)
I let two really good discounts expire. Major sad face!
But, I am loving the orange packages from Shutterfly -
and I am sharing to try to receive a discount. Try them sometime! =)

Levi is 8!

Levi turned 8 on the 23rd.

His party planned for last weekend was postponed -
we celebrate tomorrow!

It seems like I just posted about number 7 -
 a year flies by!

Happy Birthday to a little cutie! =)

my Christmas miracle

christmas bokeh

My Tamron lens would not work with auto focus for a few months.
I prayed for that lens to start working again -
I did not have time to go through the process of sending it in for repair.
And I sure did not have the money to buy another one.

I thought about the lens before the December wedding I had to shoot,
so I put it on my camera to see if it would work….
And it did!

Thank the Lord for answered prayers.
And my Christmas miracle! Smile

the promise

I am loving this song I bought from iTunes today – this is my favorite part:

He said all power in Heaven and Earth belongs to me
And with a voice that sounds like thunder, he hurled death asunder
And he said, “my child, rise and be healed.”

There’s a promise coming down that dusty road
And from His holy hand, healing virtue flows
He’s got the keys to what you need
Death and hell he will defeat
There’s a promise coming down that dusty road

There’s a promise coming down your dusty road.

testing Windows Live Writer

IMG_0958-86

I think I like Windows Live Writer.
I can format my photos (like the rounded corners)
without opening an editing software.
And hopefully this will solve my photo storage dilemma.
 * updated - I read a lot of articles recently -
Writer does not solve my photo storage problem. :(
Sigh - do I pay google or link from my website?

no more blogger (free) photo storage

Last night, I tried to catch up on some blog posting and schedule some in advance.
While I uploaded photos to one post,  I received a notice that I did not have any more
free photo storage on blogger.  It gave me the option to pay for storage.
Well, I canceled that post and I have to see what options I have now.

Lovely.
Just lovely.

Right when I finally caught up on my 365 project.
And when I want to start drafting my recent wedding posts.

So, now I have a quick decision to make. :)

just the girls

"Girl's Night Out"
Time together with just the girls to celebrate Andrea's birthday from November.
Cramming it in on the last day before my birthday.
(We do good on that "last minute" stuff. lol)
We went to Mi Casitas - one of our standard choices.

Guess who?

Only Allison will eat all the "extras."

We shared desserts....

I love the cheesecake dessert!

We shared gifts...

We shared fun...

And requested someone take a group photo...

These are the moments I love...

...four of the "girls" in my heart, held close.

snow crazy (photo crazy)

January 12
Day 3 of the Snow

Receiving a phone call to stop my early morning drive to work,
I went back and walked outside in the snow to take photos.
After two days of spending most of my time in one room,
I welcomed the chance to venture into the cold.

Come on Sun - bring on the melt! :)

Practicing with camera settings -

Ice layered over the snow, big shards cracked open under my feet.

Ice glittered leaves.

Frozen redness.

Climbing above freezing temperatures - finally!?!

Traipsing through the snow, taking in the small.

Avoid black ice - most definitely.

Shadows and Lines.

Winter wear - ready to escape from the "cabin fever."

With the snowman.

Finally off to work mid-day.

Later that evening - terrible front steps at my house.

Scared to go across the ice - not risking a slide or crash.

Walking through footsteps is the only route.

The second snow - as "my house." :)

Call me crazy, but taking photos of the snow is the best part.
And yes, we live in the South -
the public schools in our county did not have school ALL week!
I saw snow plows more this week than I have in all my life.
I think I have my fill of snow for the season,
but if God sends some more -
hopefully it will be on Saturday. :)

week 2 / 2011

week 2 of 2011 -

January 8
Taking down Christmas cards slashes sadness across my heart.
Sweet sentiments, warm words, precious photos -
I love Christmas cards!

January 9
One reason I love winter.

January 10
A snow walk...

January 11
Photo editing/creating filled my snow day hours.

January 12
The melt - I took over 15 photos trying to capture this...
Water Drop!

The melt is slow for this winter storm...talk about dangerous concrete.

January 13
Mi Casita Cheesecake
Mmmm - so good!

January 14
celebrating life
my day

My goal for 2011 is to stay fairly current for my photo editing and uploads.
Uploading photos to my website is my back-up right now.
My laptop is getting older and I fear the blue screen of death.
As long as the photos are on-line, I can breathe a little easier -
knowing that a risk of losing photo memories is not as great.
Hard drive crashes are quite common -
hopefully, I have learned my lesson.
