house update

So much has happened in the last several weeks at my house...
a whirlwind of plans and progress.
{And this is a long post, more than a normal attention span I am sure.}

The hardwood floors are refinished -
shown below during the sanding process.

The hall bath looks much better.
Some pretty green paint mixed with the white trim brightened this room.
When blinds and switch covers are added, the end is near. =)

Adding in the closet doors and door handles for the guest BR...
(fun memories of a door painting party with Andrea and her kiddos.)

The kitchen still needs paint and finishing touches, but
the cabinet work is exciting.
The dark places below are left for a spacesaver microwave,
the stove, and a bookshelf - which will need a panel at the back.

It took a lot of work and several days of using
a pump to get the water out of the pool.
The smelly gook, the torn liner, and other debris is almost gone.
And the frogs are gone also!! ;)
Quite the adventure with frog catching -
many laughs, especially using my old camera to video as Allison
held the pump and the boys caught the frogs.
Ross even cooked some frog legs. ha!

If you look at how small the wheel barrow looks,
you can tell that this pool is DEEP!

As far as supplies, the super-long list is finally decreasing.
A shopping trip last weekend that included
Sherwin Williams, Lowe's, and Wal-Mart
left a lot of scribbles.

Scribbles are good....

I had three purchases in one day at Lowe's -
a buggy that I filled -
a cart that Ross helped load up -
and then another buggy I filled.

I loaded up my car -

and then left most of it in the kitchen floor.
However, that is gone now because
the floor covering in the kitchen is going in today.
And some of the boxes are used -
two ceiling fans and the chandelier are installed,
thanks to Daniel.

We are trying to keep the inside of the house neat and organized,
but the garage is turning into a nightmare.
All of the old stuff is sitting out there, with some new.

Lots of work to do there - the clutter has to go.

Overall, the outside part is not bad.
The mulch is piled up - waiting to go around the
amateur landscaping. ;)

The porch redo is in process.
I like it without the rails, but I am sure that would violate some codes.

I loved watching the flowers bloom this year -
like this pretty lantana...

...planted in the back near the garage.

I am so incredibly thankful that this process is almost finished.
Most days I struggle to make it through another day.
And I debate on whether I should post photos to my blog.

Please note...
I post these pictures mostly for myself -
to journal the process and a reminder that progress is made.
Not for any kind of bragging rights -
because it sure is not the best and it definitely has flaws.

I think about this house -
and I try not to get so permanently attached.
This is a temporary home -
and I want to try my best to remember that.

Some days I even skip going over there -
because family, church, other obligations come up.
Needless to say, the open house plans are delayed.

The July 4th open house plans went by -
the end of august deadline went by -
and by the 9/18 wedding is not going to work either -
maybe one day it will get to a "finished for now" state?

I am super thankful for all of the people
who have helped me, my family especially!!
My mama is my hero.
And THE Dearest Friend - I could not make it without Him.

So I will end this
super long,
too wordy,
non-flowing
post,

with just one word....

gratitude.
